resolved No Title Videogame
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Warhammer40000Mechanicus2018
I created this new page for Mechanicus(the video released in 2018) because I wanted to specifically refer to it as a video game of Warhammer 40,000 featuring the Adeptus Mechanicus. And it was also because the character page redirected to the tabletop character page https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Warhammer40000Mechanicus rather than a character page with tropes related to the video game characters only. So I created the new page and then I requested that https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/Warhammer40000Mechanicus be cut.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/Warhammer40000Mechanicus2018 And now all the examples for the new character page are all gone =(
Edited by LordAraghastresolved "Broken Base" removal for remake? Videogame
Was checking my followed pages and saw a Broken Base entry removed from YMMV.Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door since the remake just released on Switch and thus hasn't passed the six month threshold at this point... despite the entry in question being written exclusively about the original game which is nearly 20 years old. I restored it on that basis, but I do believe the other user could potentially have a point here, so I'd like to ask for second opinions here.
- Broken Base: The overall quality of Chapter 4 is heavily contested. While almost no one will defend the gameplay part, with all its back-and-forth between Twilight Town and the Creepy Steeple, there's the argument of whether or not everything else in the chapter makes up for it. People who like Chapter 4 point to the atmosphere and visuals being some of the best in the game (particularly Twilight Trail), Doopliss being a great villain who provides lots of laughs while also coming dangerously close to ending Mario's adventure, this being the part where the much-lauded Vivian joins your party, and the "end of chapter" twist being an effective Player Punch. On the other hand, detractors are quick to point out how a good story arc doesn't mean anything if the act of playing through it all isn't fun or engaging. All in all, while it's agreed the chapter excels at everything besides the gameplay, whether you think it's good or bad depends on what you consider more important to the experience.
openPotentially suspect edits Videogame
Troper Halberd Stop Crashing has made some edits that are rather concerning:
On Characters.Trails Series Calvard Arkride Solutions Office they added an Ambiguously Bi entry, which is valid but has a concerning part (bolded)
- Ambiguously Bi: He expresses more overt attraction to Agnès, which the remainder of the party notices and comments upon. He blushes when grabbed by Van, which may have an alternative explanation. He also gets flustered and comments on how built Van's body is, before 'asking him to forget [he] said anything.'anything,' among other things.
Being intersex doesn't mean that they feel attraction to anyone (same sex or opposite sex), that's what things like bi or pan are for. It means that they have different parts than a regular person.
Then on here, they make frequent references to eroticism with one reference to homoerotism; I removed it because a scene having gay subtext or gay regular text doesn't make it sexual and by definition homoerotism is about sexual desire with the same sex.
I could be wrong on these so I want to bring it up here is these are worth examining closer.
openShould we list former GameBreaker examples? Videogame
Should we list former examples that, due to nerf/buffs, are no longer the case?
Former Low-Tier Letdown examples can be listed under Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, but I don't know the equivalent for Game-Breaker (intentional or not).
Clarifying EDIT: I asked this because 2.5 months ago, someone added a game-breaking bug to Team Fortress 2 that was patched in 2008.

Acclaimed Flop says no examples until the work's initial run has finished. What does this mean for a Video game that released in complete form on day one?
Edited by GoldenDarknessopenHoping for weigh-in on the Alpha Centauri YMMV page. Videogame
On the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri page, I wrote an entry under Memetic Loser, since before I was a fan of the game I was aware of a particular character by reputation because of the relevant memes about him. It needed some work, bluntly, but in the day between my posting it and my deciding to work on it, someone else had deleted it.
I didn't like their edit reason but they've responded on the Discussion page. I frankly don't find their arguments particularly persuasive, and they don't seem particularly interested in the relative merits of contrary opinions, but they've sufficiently convinced me that their opinion is passionate enough that I'm unlikely to change their mind.
I would appreciate if anyone familiar with the source material and community could weigh in? If overwhelming consensus is in their favor I'll abide by the will of the voters, but I question whether or not it is.
(Also, they've been just a bit rude and aggressive throughout, but I don't want them to get in trouble or anything. I'm just being clear about why I don't feel the need to try to convince them of anything through reasoned argument.)
openPicotron Videogame
PICO-8 now has a successor, that is based on the 16-bit era of game consoles, but the said system/platform lacks game entries, does it deserve a page here?

Edited by Travis4205openCharacters page for Warcraft NPC species? Videogame
Wondering if it'd be reasonable to create a Characters page for NPC species in the Warcraft franchise. We of course already have pages for the playable factions, but the franchise has a number of species introduced at every expansion with their own themes, story beats and quirks. It would inevitably be a rather big page (probably big enough to be split in some way; something to think about if we decide to do it), but we honestly have similarly large pages for NPC's in other fantasy franchises (see the NPC pages for Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder, for example), so I don't think extent alone should be seen as a reason NOT do to it.
Should we do it, we'd also have to think about maybe reworking some already-existing pages; the page for Pandaria, for instance, alredy brings some entries on NPC races introduced in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Those entries should maybe be moved.
Alternatively, we could create individual pages for characters introduced in each expansion, listing significant NPC's and having entries for the species there instead. "Big" characters (i.e. cosmic entities) could be kept separate, as they already are, but we add entries for every new species on their corresponding expansion page.
Edited by ZeroCCOopenIs It Ok To Add "The Smoke Room" Work On The Wiki Videogame
I was planing on adding an article for "The Smoke Room" (a visual novel) to the wiki in the near future, but the redlink said that it was cut do to it being added by a ban evader. Is it ok to add again? Im pretty sure it is due to it being an actual work and a prequel to another work with a page on this site, but im asking to be sure since the page said i should do that
openInconsistency in page titles for a video game series. Videogame
Cross posting with the games' Discussion Page and forum thread but posting it here since no one pays attention to those pages.
Basically, the Super Robot Wars pages are inconsistent on whether or not they use the "expanded" titles for their games or not. For example, we have a page for Super Robot Wars Advance, even though Super Robot Wars A is what other sites use and it's what the art on our page uses. This is admittedly an extreme case since the Updated Re-release was on the PSP and it was very explicitly A and not Advance there, but it's equally true for Super Robot Wars Judgment which is usually referred to as Super Robot Wars J. We don't even have it as a redirect. The same is true for a bunch of other games in the series.
And then we have Super Robot Wars V, but no Super Robot Wars Voyage.
Given that the expanded titles aren't really part of the game or packaging or anything as far as I can tell (I'd say it's All There in the Manual but the games I own where this applies do not have manuals) I'd like to move all the pages to their shortened versions and turned the expanded versions into redirects.
Edited by LarkmarnopenHow do you index YMMV pages? Videogame
Hi, I want to try and index the YMMV page for the video game KGB (since they don’t automatically), but I don’t know how to. Could someone point me to the right page to add to?
openVA citation Videogame
A few hours ago, Datriel 917 removed Copy the Code's English voice actress (Rebecca Wang) from her folder on Neptunia - Antagonists, citing that there must be an official confirmation from the VA. I don't buy it, since Excessive-Menace (the OP who added the ENG VA) put out an external link from Wang's Twitter post confirming such. This feels like an unnecessary edit if you ask me.
Edit: spelling fix
Edited by ToonAbbyopenWanting to avoid an edit war Videogame
On Unicorn Overlord:
- Lord Twibill made an edit to the beginning to the page that contained a Sinkhole.
- I removed citing it to be a sinkhole.
- Smeagol 17 partly restored it citing "it is not wrong. the game is both".
I understand that the game is an RTS game but I do think the linking is a bit reductive. However, in the interest of avoiding an edit war, I want to ask here what to do before I make any edits.

Potential edit warring.
I deleted this entry because it felt like a presumption on the tropers part, and they've recently added it back saying it's obvious. Can someone else weigh in?

I've seen this acronym used in several video game-related pages, and it never links to anything nor does it have any accompanying explanation. What does POTN mean/stand for?
openDuel Links huge folder question Videogame
Somewhere along the line Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links got two huge folders detailing every playable character and their signature card, putting strain on an already pretty big page. Should it stay or should they go, do you think?
(Disney Dreamlight Valley and Disney Speedstorm have similar folders for villagers/playable characters and signature songs too even though they have a Character page. Since this is kind of a similar situation I'm curious about those too.)
On Jan 18, 2020, CookingCat added an example of King Boo to Luigi's Mansion 3 as an Anti-Climax Boss. They described the final boss as lackluster, having an unimpressive stage and moveset, and suffering from Fake Difficulty:
On Apr 1, 2020, it was removed without any edit reason by Cman053. I was unaware of this prior edit history or CookingCat's original example.
A little more than a year later on Apr 20, 2021, after having just finished the game myself, I re-added King Boo as an Anti-Climax Boss. While I never saw CookingCat's writeup, my own writeup incidentally echoed several of their criticisms, such as King Boo feeling lackluster in comparison to his previous fights in the series as well as earlier bosses within the same game; the fight's main "challenge" coming from trying to awkwardly aim a projectile; and spending much of the battle waiting for the boss to cycle through long attack patterns until he finally becomes vulnerable again. I also added the fact that it's a "Feed It a Bomb Three Times" boss battle that is an incredibly generic Nintendo boss formula not fitting a final boss, and the lack of a unique Game Over should the time limit run out (unlike, say, Metroid Dread) making it feel all the more anticlimactic in presentation:
Additionally, King Boo was previously listed as an example of That One Boss by Drope. Since final bosses are exempt from That One Boss status and the example focused more on King Boo being frustrating and annoying instead of difficult, I moved that example to Goddamned Boss instead. It's still listed there as of now.
On Nov 17, 2023, Fireball246 removed King Boo's Anti-Climax Boss example with the following edit reason: "Ignoring the fact that I’ve seen plenty of people who really liked the fight against King Boo in this game, a lot of these point feel like petty criticisms of being bad at the game rather than the boss itself being “poorly designed” or anything. This all comes across as extremely subjective and definitely doesn’t deserve to be officially labeled as an Anti-Climax Boss." But this edit reason doesn't make sense?
I sent Fireball246 a "deleting YMMV" notifier on Friday, but although they've clearly been active on TV Tropes this weekend, they haven't responded or acknowledged the PM. Since I was the last one to add the Anti-Climax Boss example, I can't undo their removal (or re-add the example with greater emphasis on "anticlimax" rather than "frustrating") without edit warring. Please advise.
